Do dreams delay rest?

I often hear people complain about having a dream all night and not having a good rest all night;. So is dream really delaying the rest? Is dreaming a sign that the brain has never rested or has not rested well?

This idea is wrong. Dreaming and remembering dreams is not an indicator of not having a deep sleep, nor can we say that having a dream means not having a good sleep.

In fact, dreaming is a physiological phenomenon. No matter whether you have dream memories or not, you must dream 4-5 times every night.

Therefore, it's unrealistic to dream all night or not, and it's hard to talk about more dreams and less dreams.

Some studies have shown that there is no necessary relationship between the sense of dream and the degree of insomnia. In other words, whether there is a sense of dream or not and the degree of dream can not be used as an objective indicator of insomnia or not.

So, why are there complaints? Through investigation and analysis, some scholars believe that it is related to the following factors:

(1) Little is known about sleep knowledge and the relationship between sleep and dream sense.

(2) It is related to people's emotional state.

(3) Too much concern for their own health, too much concern for the sense of dream, resulting in enhanced sense of dream. In turn, it aggravates the fear of health and insomnia, and even forms a vicious circle.

(4) During REM sleep and later wakefulness, they are more likely to recall the contents of dreams.

(5) Individual functional state differences, different individuals have different sense of dream, even the same individual in different periods, different functional states, the sense of dream is not the same, so some people will feel more dreams for a period of time, and less dreams for another period of time.

In addition, although some people do not have obvious insomnia, they feel powerless during the day after dreaming at night. In fact, this is a psychological factor. Dreamers always associate the content of their dreams with their own unpleasant things, which aggravates the burden of thinking, suppresses their emotions, and causes all kinds of discomfort.

Dreaming itself has certain benefits for people and sleep. Unless you are sleepy at night and have obvious drowsiness during the day, which affects your normal work and life, you should see a doctor to find out the cause and give treatment.
